Two Holes, Two Pencil Widths

Makeup pencils are not all the same thickness. A kajal pencil is slim, a lip liner sits somewhere in the middle, and a chunky eyeshadow or brow pencil is wider than either. One hole cannot handle all of them, which is why a single hole sharpener usually ends up jamming or shaving too much off one side.

This one has two holes, and between them they take every pencil in our range.

Why a Blunt Tip Matters

A pencil only draws as fine a line as its point allows. A blunt lip liner gives a soft, imprecise edge, which defeats the reason for using a liner at all. A blunt brow pencil lays colour down in a wide band instead of hair like strokes.

Most people sharpen far less often than they should, then blame the pencil.

Sharpening Makeup Pencils Without Breaking Them

Go gently and take a little at a time. Makeup pencils are much softer than a graphite pencil, and a heavy hand snaps the tip off in one turn.

If a pencil has gone soft in the heat, put it in the fridge for ten minutes first. A firm tip sharpens cleanly, a warm one smears inside the hole.

Empty the shavings out regularly. Build up inside the chamber is what makes a sharpener start dragging.
