Eyeliner and Kajal Price in Bangladesh: What You Pay

Local online stores sell eyeliner from about ৳100 to a few thousand taka. The top of that range is imported brand pricing. The useful part of the market, where most people actually shop, sits between ৳200 and ৳600.

The gap between the ৳220 pencil and the ৳435 liquid liner is not about quality, it is about what the product does. A pencil is soft, forgiving and easy to smudge on purpose. A liquid liner gives a sharp edge and stays put. Most people end up owning one of each.

Kajal or Eyeliner? What the Names Mean Here

These two words get used for the same thing, and it causes real confusion when you are shopping.

Kajal is the soft pencil most people here grew up with. It goes on easily, it can be smudged with a fingertip for a soft look, and it is the one usually worn on the waterline, the inner rim of the eye.

Eyeliner as a category covers everything that draws a line on the lash line, including kajal. In practice, when a Bangladeshi store says “eyeliner” without qualifying it, it usually means a liquid or gel liner with a fine tip.

So a kajal is a kind of eyeliner, but not every eyeliner is a kajal. On this page you get both. Three of our four products are kajol pencils and one is a liquid liner.

Choose Your Formula

Kajal pencil (Colourgirl, ৳220)

A soft pencil in four shades: Black, Blue, Sapphire and White. Black is the everyday choice. White is the one people overlook and then keep buying, because a white line on the inner corner or the lower waterline makes tired eyes look more open. This is the easiest product on the page for a beginner, because a wobbly pencil line can be smudged into a soft smoky edge and nobody will know.

Coloured kajal (Jackelin, ৳260 to ৳300)

Twelve shades, and this is the range that makes this page worth bookmarking: Black, Blue, Navy Blue, Green, a deeper green, Firoza, Bronze, Real Gold, Smoke, Nude and two violets. Very few stores here carry colored kajal in this many options.

Nude deserves a mention on its own. Worn on the lower waterline instead of black, it does the same job as white but looks like nothing at all, which is why it works for the office.

Glitter kajal pencil (Jackelin, ৳260)

Eight shades with visible shimmer: Antique bronze, Bronze, Gold, Real gold, Raisin, Espresso and two violets. This is an evening product. Used as a thin line over a black base, or smudged along the outer third of the lash line, it catches light without the mess of loose glitter. It is not the pencil to reach for on a workday.

Liquid eyeliner, waterproof (Jackelin, ৳435)

One shade, black, and the only product here built for a sharp edge. Jackelin describes the formula as intensely pigmented, waterproof and smudge-proof, quick-drying, and long lasting without flaking. It suits a thin line or a bold wing, and it is the one to buy if your problem is a liner that never survives the day.

Liquid liner is less forgiving than a pencil. If you have never used one, buy the ৳220 pencil first and practise with that.

All four are described by the brand as being formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates or synthetic fragrances.

Picking a Kajal Colour That Works

Black is safe and always will be. If you are buying a second or third pencil, here is how the rest of the range behaves.

If you want colour that reads as colour. Blue, Navy Blue, Green and the two violets all show clearly against brown eyes, which is most people here. Navy is the gentlest step away from black and the easiest to wear to work.

If you want colour that reads as light. Bronze, Real Gold and Firoza catch light rather than sitting flat. Bronze suits warm skin tones especially well. These work best as a thin line smudged into a black base rather than used alone.

If you want to look more awake. White or Nude on the lower waterline. White is the stronger effect and looks obvious in photographs. Nude is the subtle version and nobody will be able to tell you are wearing anything.

If you want softness instead of a line. Smoke is a grey-black that gives a blurred, lived-in look. It is more forgiving than black on hooded or downturned eyes, where a hard black line can close the eye up.

A practical rule: one bold element per eye look. Bright liner with a bold lip and a heavy shadow is three things competing. Pick the liner or the lip. If you are building a full eye, the Jackelin Voluminous Mascara and the eyebrow pencil do more for the shape of the eye than a second colour will.

Stopping Your Liner From Smudging in Dhaka Heat

Smudging here is rarely the pencil’s fault. Humidity, oily lids and heat all work against eye makeup, and most fixes are about what goes underneath.

• Blot the lid first. Oil on the eyelid is what breaks a line down. A tissue pressed on the lid before you start makes more difference than any product claim.
• Set powder over concealer. If you use concealer around the eye, dust a little powder over it. Liner slides on wet concealer.
• Use the liquid liner for the top, kajal for the bottom. The lower lash line is where transfer happens. If you want a look that survives a full day, put the waterproof liquid liner on the upper lash line and keep the pencil light underneath.
• Let it dry properly. The liquid formula is described as quick-drying, but blinking straight after application will still print it onto the upper lid. Hold your eyes open a few seconds.
• Warm the pencil in your hand, not on your lid. A hard pencil drags. Ten seconds in your palm softens the tip enough for a clean line.

If your liner is gone by lunch even with all of this, the answer is the waterproof liquid liner rather than a different pencil.

Using Kajal on the Waterline

Most people here wear kajal on the waterline, so a few practical points are worth having.

• Sharpen before use. A fresh point on a pencil is the simplest hygiene step there is, and the dual sharpener at ৳80 fits both pencil sizes we sell.
• Do not share eye pencils with anyone, including family.
• Take it off before you sleep. Kajal left overnight migrates into the eye and onto the pillow.
• Replace an eye pencil after roughly a year of regular use, sooner if the texture changes or it starts to smell. Eye products sit closer to the eye than anything else in your kit.
• Skip the waterline entirely if your eyes are already irritated, or on days you are having trouble with contact lenses.

If you get ongoing redness, watering or irritation from any eye product, stop using it and see a doctor rather than working through a shopping page.

Four Mistakes to Avoid When You Buy Eyeliner Online

Buying liquid liner first. It is the product people want and the hardest one to use. A pencil teaches you where the line goes. Start there.

Assuming every eye pencil is black. Twelve of the shades on this page are not, and people regularly buy a second black pencil when what they actually wanted was Smoke or Navy.

Judging a shade from a product photo. Metallics and shimmers photograph brighter than they wear. Real Gold and Bronze are subtler in person than they look on screen.

Ordering from a seller who will not tell you where they are. Eye products go closer to the eye than anything else you buy. A page with no company name, no address and no phone number has no way of standing behind what it ships you.
